While Nashville, Tennessee, is home, our work has taken us to many different places over the years. Let’s go on an adventure across states to explore how each destination has inspired our senior living designs.
Collierville, TN
A few hours’ drive from home, Collierville offers historic, small-town charm with access to city amenities 30 minutes away in the larger, well-known Tennessee city of Memphis. Collierville Town Square is even found on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors can experience friendly, vibrant townsfolk enjoying culturally diverse entertainment, dining and community activities.
The architecture at The Farms at Bailey Station captures the historic homestead allure of the area while incorporating modern touches. The interior balances city and country, activity and leisure, luxury and charm with spaces thoughtfully designed as destinations to attract residents, encourage exploration and foster connections. Bold colors and layered textures complement the timeless, classic design, both inside and out. The team also drew inspiration from Collierville through art in Charlie’s Steakhouse with a map of Tennessee.
Waterloo, IA
With picturesque views of Dry Run Creek, Friendship Village in Waterloo, Iowa, features a modern prairie-style architectural vernacular. Inside, art and color energize the warm, textural aesthetic mirrored from the exterior. Because Mideastern Iowa experiences long snow-filled winter months, incorporating biophilic elements was crucial to the design. Interiors reflect unique Iowan staples in the colors of sunsets, the gold of hay fields, and the green fields and blue skies of summer. In addition, the fitness room and performing arts center feature imagery of notable Waterloo landmarks in black and white.
Tysons, VA
Known as Virginia’s “premiere shopping destination” and among the nation’s largest shopping centers, Tysons Corner Center is only minutes from D.C. Metro, an area booming with various cultural influences. Visitors will find a bustling center with plenty of luxurious and chain shopping, entertainment and dining options. The Mather fits right into this lively metro hub, offering luxury hospitality- and wellness-driven experiences infused with inclusive programming.
Inspired by the rich diversity of the D.C. area, The Mather’s interior design incorporates a carefully curated selection of art, sculptures and artifacts to help create a welcoming environment for all nationalities and cultures. The color scheme is vibrant and dynamic, featuring calming blues and greens, lively citrine and fuchsia, and a blend of warm champagne and cool chrome metals. In the Tashi restaurant, named after the Tibetan word for “good fortune,” a mural resembling cherry trees canopied over the Tidal Basin blends art and biophilia, inviting the beauty of the outdoors into the fine dining space for residents to enjoy.
Fort Worth, TX
As one of the largest cities in the U.S. by population, Fort Worth, Texas, is known as a growing, modern city with cowboy charm dating back to its historic cattle and oil heritage. Visitors can experience Western heritage in the Stockyards National Historic District, art and history in the Cultural District, and premier shopping and entertainment in Sundance Square.
Stevenson Oaks is inspired by the Texas Hill Country design aesthetic, featuring an articulated façade with large windows and balconies to maximize daylight. A palette of earth tones complemented by the rich textures of natural wood and stone emphasizes what makes this open and comforting Western style so attractive. The interior design reinforces the textural palette with nature-inspired hues and metallic accents. The theater pays homage to Western roots with popular cowboy movie imagery along the back wall. Clean lines, eye-catching light fixtures and dramatic art selections, including a commissioned painting of a historic Fort Worth oak tree, infuse a contemporary appeal.
Fort Myers, FL
Southwest Florida is a growing haven for older adults, offering a laid-back island vibe and slower pace of life surrounded by beautiful beaches and nature preserves. The Preserve, a senior living community providing assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing care, gives residents access to Florida nature while remaining close to many essential amenities and services in the surrounding Fort Myers community.
The building showcases traditional Florida-style architecture with deep overhangs supported by structural brackets, low-sloped roofs, outdoor screened lanais, operable shutters on featured windows, and a soft ivory and sand-colored exterior. Numerous walking paths throughout the property invite residents and guests to enjoy the Florida sunshine. Inside, the design takes inspiration from the Gulf of Mexico and nearby coastline in a curated palette of cool sea blues and sandy neutrals accented with warm sunset oranges. Additionally, given Florida’s susceptibility to hurricanes, the community’s primary operational functions are located above sea level on the second floor, ensuring residents’ safety during inclement weather.
From the quaint charm of Collierville to the vibrant energy of Tysons Corner to the serene landscapes of Fort Myers, every destination offers unique elements to enrich the living experience for residents. By embracing these diverse inspirations, our team designs communities that resonate with their surroundings, encourage connectivity and feel like home. We remain committed to enhancing the quality of life for older adults while celebrating the distinctive character of the places we serve.
